Role Description

The Medical Receptionist role at Nexus Care Limited is based in Epsom,

Auckland, with primary duties performed on-site and some tasks able to be completed from

home. Day-to-day responsibilities include welcoming patients, managing check-in and check-

out processes, answering phone calls, and responding to queries in a professional and

courteous manner. The Medical Receptionist will schedule and confirm appointments,

maintain accurate patient records, and coordinate with clinical staff to support efficient clinic

workflow. Additional tasks include handling patient documentation, processing payments,

managing correspondence, and ensuring the reception area remains organized and

presentable. The role also involves using practice management systems, following privacy and

confidentiality standards, and contributing to a positive, inclusive environment for patients

and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Receptionist Duties skills, including greeting

    patients, managing front desk operations, and handling administrative tasks.

  • Candidates should possess solid Appointment Scheduling abilities, including

    organizing, confirming, and adjusting bookings in practice management systems.

  • Candidates should possess professional Phone Etiquette skills for handling inquiries,

    triaging calls, and communicating with patients and healthcare professionals.

  • Candidates should possess an understanding of Medical Terminology to accurately

    process information and communicate with clinical staff.

  • Candidates should possess familiarity with a Medical Office environment, including workflows, confidentiality requirements, and record-keeping practices.

  • Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the

    ability to support diverse patients in a calm and respectful manner.

  • Candidates should possess good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the

    ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy setting.

  • Experience using electronic health records or practice management software and proficiency with common office applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets) is beneficial.

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or reception role and relevant training or certification in

    medical administration are advantageous but not mandatory.
